| If
you recognize the connection between exposure to toxic chemicals
and human disease, you surely want to reduce your pets' exposure
to these substances as well. The incidence of cancers in dogs
and cats has risen dramatically in the last 20-30 years, just
as we have seen in humans. Although we may not think about
it much, it makes sense, they live in the same polluted environment,
their foods are also laced with exogenous hormones, and they are
exposed to most of the same pesticides. We think we have their
best interests in mind by frequent bathing and regular treatment
with flea killers. However, most of the insecticides we use
on our pets are either proven or suspected carcinogens. Furthermore,
we expose ourselves and our families to these toxic substances when
we share the same space with our pets.
Natural
insect repellents are available in the form of essential oils.
Essential oils are expressed from plant parts, usually leaves and
stems, using heat or high pressure. Fly Away! is a mixture
of essential oils known for repelling a wide variety of flying insects,
including: house and stable flies, horseflies, mosquitoes, fleas,
hornets, yellow jackets and others. Fly Away! is non-toxic
and does not kill insects or their eggs and larvae, but may reduce
the population as they are compelled to seek a more hospitable environment.
Essential oils have a low potential for triggering sensitivities
or allergic reactions in humans and animals. In addition,
they make your animal smell nice, but not perfumy or chemical smelling.
And you have the peace of mind that you are protecting your family
and pets while not contributing to contamination of the environment.
Both pyrethrins
and permethrins are used in most insecticides for animals.
Pyrethrins are the insecticides derived from the chrysanthemum plant
and are considered safe for humans and most pets. However,
pyrethrins are toxic to cats and can cause severe allergic dermatitis
and systemic allergic reactions in humans and other pets.
Permethrins are very effective synthetic insecticides, but toxic
and carcinogenic. Why contaminate your environment and jeopardize
your family's and pets' health when effective natural insect repellents
are available in Fly Away!?
I have
been using Fly Away! on my farm and show animals for a year and
it really works for my cattle, sheep, dogs and horses. They
are much more comfortable not being bothered by pesty and potentially
disease carrying mosquitoes, flies and other insects. I have even
used it on myself, and although it accidentally blew back into my
face, I had no eye irritation resulting from it . It is also
effective as a surface spray around picnic, patio and Bar-B-Q areas,
screen doors or anywhere insects congregate. Essential oils are
intended for external use only and should be kept away from food.
Some essential oils stain, so try a spot test on a hidden area before
spraying carpet, upholstery or furniture. Essential oils vaporize
within days, so reapply as needed.
Use Fly
Away! on stock animals destined for human consumption, not toxic
pesticides!
Shake
well to mix before spraying. Fly Away! is sold as a concentrate,
add water to the line on the label before using. Keep Fly
Away! and all essential oils away from excessive heat and sunlight.
Keep out of the reach of children.
Contains: essential oils of tea tree,
citronella, rosemary and lavender with extracts of calendula and
grapefruit seed
*Although most veterinarians
agree that tea tree oil is harmless to most cats, there have been
a few anecdotal reports of neurotoxicity reported on the web with
tea tree oil the suspected agent. No known clinical studies
are available concerning these claims. Note that lemon is
also considered by some to be toxic to cats. |
