Botanical
Alternatives Dry Skin Cream was created specially for persons
with psoriasis and eczema, but
is an effective moisture barrier for persons with
dry skin as well. Only wholesome natural ingredients
selected for skin nourishing characteristics are
used. Hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic,
it contains no alcohol, harmful chemicals nor hidden hormones.
With daily use on the face, it has been found to relieve the burning,
itching and redness associated with rosacea. An
added benefit is that it smoothes out fine wrinkles
and fades liver spots as it moisturizes the skin.*
For best
results, use twice daily.
- Spread generously over the face and neck back
to the hairline. It may be used as a day cream under make-up.
- It is especially effective as a night cream.
Use around the eye area, but avoid getting directly into the eyes.
- You will be surprised at how well it relieves
dry, cracked or scaly hands.
- Massage into feet for a soothing, relaxing treat.
Skin functions
as a semi-permeable barrier that excludes bacteria, viruses, dirt
and water-based molecules, yet prevents water inside the cell from
evaporating. It is a dynamic tissue that is constantly being shed
and regenerated. As one ages, diminishing hormone levels and UV
light exposure cause the skin to lose its suppleness, elasticity
and moisture. Skin cell membranes are made of lipids (oil-based)
that allow oils and oil-based molecules to penetrate. Unfortunately,
this also allows harmful oil-based chemicals such as solvents, pesticides,
and cosmetic preservatives, many of which are carcinogenic (cancer
causing), to be absorbed into the skin. In other words, much of
the oil-based products that you put on your skin or inadvertently
contact from the environment ends up inside your body . The liver
can be overwhelmed trying to break down these foreign substances
so that the body can excrete them. Furthermore, these molecules
accumulate in our fat cells (brain and nerve cells are also fatty
tissues) and not only disrupt normal cellular processes but can
cause DNA damage and cancer as well.
Parabens
(ethyl-, methyl-, propyl-, butyl-) are the preservatives most widely
used in cosmetic and body care products. Read the labels of your
shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, cosmetics and skin creams. Most
likely they contain parabens, not to mention a cornucopia of other
harmful chemicals. Recent scientific studies report that parabens
are carcinogenic. Unfortunately, it will likely be years before
the FDA acts to ban these chemicals from use in skin and body care
products. Parabens are very effective at preserving products, allowing
years of shelf-life. Botanical Alternatives uses a preservative
system of essential oils, botanical extracts, and vitamin antioxidants.
Consequently, products preserved in this way have a shorter shelf-life
and should not be stored for long at room temperature. They should
be used within months of receipt. We make small batches on a frequent
basis to assure that you get fresh product. If you order
more than one tube, we suggest you keep the other tubes in the refrigerator
until you are ready to use them.
